Profile Management – USPS Address Verification
The database uses USPS tool to verify confirmed mailing addresses in the US. You can see this in action when you type an address into a contact’s address field – there is a small grey checkmark next to the Zip Code field (see image A).
If you hover your mouse over the grey checkmark, you are asked to “Click to verify” (see image B). Once you click, the database checks the USPS database in the background and replaces any non-standard address elements with the correct ones (in this case, “St. Paul” becomes “Saint Paul”) and the arrow turns from grey to green (see image C).
Completing this step ensures you have a valid member address on file and aren’t wasting postage on print mail or receipt/thank you letters. There is no sense storing information in the database that isn’t correct.
