Nonpartisan Observers are in the Field!

LWVMN has over 150 trained nonpartisan volunteers observing the Post Election Review in 43 of the 87 Minnesota counties. The nonpartisan observation teams across the state will observe, document and report back on various aspects of the PER process.

Observing includes completing a detailed questionnaire to obtain information such as: Did the election administrator announce the meeting rules and/or post them somehow? Were the seals intact on the ballot envelope/containers when they were delivered? Could you hear members of the counting team discuss what they were doing? Did election administrators indicate a further audit was needed? Observers consolidate their observations into a final report sent to our state office, and will be compiled into a final, independent report to share with county officials and voters.

All observers agree to a Code of Conduct, similar to the one used by International Election Observers. We are the “eyes and ears” to this important election verification process conducted by each county.

Thank you to all our volunteer observers! Below are teams from Washington (left) and Ramsey County (right)!
