How Will a Changing Climate in Southeast Minnesota Impact Public Health?

  • Rochester Public Library 101 2nd Street Southeast Rochester, MN, 55904 (map)

The news is filled with wildfires, immense precipitation events, and extreme heat. We hear how they impact the lives of people, the environment, and communities. But do you know how they will impact your health and that of your family in the coming decades? Join us to find out.

LWV Rochester is presenting this program to provide reliable information on what to expect as the climate changes in SE Minnesota and the public health consequences of that change. You will hear from state climate and county health experts:

  • Kenneth (“Kenny”) Blumenfeld, Ph.D.
    Senior Climatologist
State Climatology Office Division of Ecological Water Resources
    Minnesota Department of Natural Resources

  • Cody Miller
    Environmental Health Specialist
    Olmsted County Health Services

  • Sarah Stevens
    Public Health Nurse Manager
    Olmsted County Health Services

Their presentations will be followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. Questions can be submitted ahead of time by using this online form or by emailing lwvrochester@lwvmn.org.

If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be livestreamed to the library’s YouTube channel. After the event, a recording will be available on the library's YouTube channel. We’ll post a link to the recording on our website as well.

Thank you to our partners the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Olmsted County Public Health Services, and the Rochester Public Library. To learn more about LWV Rochester, see our website or follow us on Facebook.
