What is Civic Engagement?
Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make a difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes. League of Women Voters encourages all who are interested to get involved either at the local, state or federal level. Running for office isn't for everyone, but voicing your opinion is. Our democracy is strengthened through the many voices that exist in our communities today. Letter writing, phone calls, posting on social media or attending community meetings are all ways in which everyone can be engaged.
