Mission Statement

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

LWV has been in existence in the Woodbury and Cottage Grove area almost 50 years, since 1968.  

It strengthens our communities by:

  • Promoting voter registration
  • Conducting candidate forums
  • Influencing public policy through education and advocacy
  • Providing leadership opportunities through volunteer service
  • Studying issues of local, state and national importance


The League of Women Voters of Woodbury, Cottage Grove Area serves citizens in Cottage Grove, Grey Cloud Island Township, Newport, St. Paul Park, and Woodbury. WCG LWV it is most closely aligned as follows:

Evening meetings are usually held on the third Monday in the Woodbury City Hall Birch Room, 8301 Valley Creek Rd, Woodbury, MN 55125.  Doors open at 6:30 pm with the program beginning at 7:00 pm.  Exceptions: The December Holiday Brunch and January Legislative Interviews are usually held Saturday mornings, and we don’t usually meet in June, July, and August.

Visitors and new members are always welcome.
