New Ulm League of Women Voters has been an active force in our local community for over 80 years. Topics of local interest are addressed in community forums as well as membership meetings. We organize and moderate candidate forums for all local elections. We always have fun but our motto is, “If you want to know what is going on, join League.”.
Every Second Saturday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. we hold our regular monthly meeting to plan and catch up with each other. We have recently outgrown our coffee shop location and moved our meeting to the Verizon conference room at 1609 South Broadway, New Ulm. Everyone is welcome so please join us..
This year, we are studying local election integrity. Over the next several months our members will work to understand the local election process, the voter registration systems, fraud protection, redistricting, and voter access to casting a ballot. We will be interviewing local election officials from all the surrounding counties and tabulating those results.
At our September Membership Kick Off meeting three local Election Judges will explain their role in the voting process and answer questions based on their own experience.
In conjunction with the New Ulm Human Rights Commission the LWVNU plans to host a forum “Election Integrity: Process and Policy” on the evening of Thursday, November 30, at 7 p.m. in the Community Center.
